Antrix offers costume hire and other facilities for those in Maidstone & Mid-Kent. As we are in private premises,
if you wish to visit, it helps to please make an appointment. This allows us to stagger the time between
appointments and gives you the opportunity to take time to choose, unhurried and unworried by parking restrictions and
other customers.
We are located about 2½ miles south of Maidstone, off the A229 Hastings/Loose
Road. For GPS/Sat Nav. we are at ME15 9TG, but on the right-hand side
of Waldron Drive (some GPS/Internet maps show us on the left!). Unfortunately the Streetview picture on Google suffered the
same problem but we think we've fixed it. Basically, in the picture we've a white van parked opposite us - in reality
it's usually a grey-silver vehicle.
A more precise location for Antrix is 51"14' 43.05N, 0"31'
11.17E which should put you by the kerb right outside! Detailed directions from various areas follow below.
DIRECTIONS
NOTE: There are
currently major roadworks and four-way traffic control on the A229 Loose Road at the Cripple St./Boughton Lane junction (that's
the bit between the Wheatsheaf pub and the Swan pub area mentioned below). They are expected to last until early September
and may cause delays in your journey to and from Maidstone.
From Motorways M2 or M20: Take
A229 exit (Junction 3 off M2, Junction 6 off M20) and follow A229 through Maidstone
From Maidstone:
Take the A229 Hastings/Loose road south out of the town, forking right at the Wheatsheaf pub
junction. Having passed a fire station, the Swan and Papermakers' Arms pubs and the Plonkers off-licence,
take the next right turn for Lancet Lane (just beyond a zebra crossing). Waldron Drive is a left turn
off Lancet Lane and Antrix is at No. 8, the fourth house on the right beyond the Valley Drive turn.
From
Headcorn & Sutton Valence: Take the road to Maidstone as far as the Plough Pub crossroads at Langley. Take
the left turn opposite the pub towards Boughton Monchelsea and Linton (the Heath Road). Follow Heath Road until its junction
with the A229 at Linton Crossroads and turn right towards Maidstone and continue as detailed below in From Staplehurst.
From Staplehurst & the Weald: Use A229 Maidstone/Chatham road up Linton
Hill and across the Linton crossroads, passing the Shell garage site. Stay on the A229 (passing Loose village in the valley)
to the top of the hill (Walnut Tree pub to the right, Loose Schools to the left). Take the next left turn (Lancet Lane) located
just before the zebra crossing. Waldron Drive is a left turn off Lancet Lane and Antrix is at No. 8, fourth house on
the right after the Valley Drive turn.
From Tonbridge & Tunbridge Wells: Follow
the A26 via Wateringbury to Maidstone. This will bring you in via Barming, down the Tonbridge Road, into
a one-way system leading down via the London Road to the 'river roundabout' in Maidstone at which point you can
join the A229 signposted for Hastings as detailed above in From Maidstone.
From
villages between Ashford and Maidstone (A20): (Via Maidstone) Follow the A20 towards Maidstone. After passing
through Bearsted and the Willington Street junction you pass the walls of Mote Park on your left, then shortly after
the Grove Green/Maidstone Studios junction you pass Turkey Mill and go under a rail bridge. You have a garage to the left
and Haynes garages to the right. Beyond the next traffic lights the road is marked into three lanes and you want
the left-hand lane marked for Hastings A229. Follow this to take you over the viaduct (passing Sainsburys on your right)
and to join the A229 at the Thirsty Pig Pub intersection. Follow the road up Upper Stone Street and to the
Wheatsheaf junction as detailed above in From Maidstone
From villages between Ashford
and Maidstone (A20): (Avoiding Maidstone) Follow the A20 towards Maidstone. After passing through Bearsted you
come to the Willington Street junction and turn left into Willington Street itself. Proceeding at a careful 30 mph (there
are notorious speed cameras along this road) travel the entire length of the Street until you reach the T-junction
with Sutton Road. Here you turn right towards Maidstone, passing a large Morrisons store and shortly after, the Kent Police
HQ, as you proceed.
Having passed a parade of shops featuring a Barclays Bank, again watch your speed as you approach
another speed camera and then avoid the bus lane as you come to the Wheatsheaf junction traffic lights. Here,
turn left around the front of the pub and into Loose Road then proceeed as detailed above in From Maidstone
Public Transport: From Maidstone, take the 89 bus for Loose/Coxheath
(stops are located in King Street (at the top of the High Street) & the Chequers Mall Bus Station) or the 5 bus for Staplehust/Sandhurst
and ask for Norrington Road. (Current cost of a Single Adult fare (August 2010) is £1.90) Alighting at this stop,
look for the zebra crossing mentioned above and Lancet Lane close by.
Notes:
Lancet Lane is a school drop-off/pick-up area, so avoid 8.45-9.05am and 2.45 - 3.40pm during
term-time if possible.
Waldron Drive has no street lighting, so after dark, look for the path lights!
